Born on April 3, 1931 to Joseph and Catherine Kiernan in Yonkers and remained a Yonkers resident for 90 years.
After graduating from Commerce High School Peggy was employed at the Alexander Smith Carpet shop in Yonkers. In October 1953 she married Joe Welsh, her first and only love.
After years as a stay at home mom, she worked at Sacred Heart's school cafeteria then in the medical offices of Drs Paul and Elliott Rosch.
Peggy was an avid reader and loved to walk: to Sacred Heart, around Gorton High Schools track or to see Church friends. Her best times were spent with her sister, Aunt Sis, and her 5 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Kathleen and brothers Jim and Buddy.
Survived by daughters Janet Welsh-Kenny (Tom) of Poughquag, NY and Barbara Blackwell (Sid) of Milford CT., grandchildren: Meaghan, Conor (Catalina) and Brian Kenny and Sydney and Mary Blackwell and
great granddaughters: Madilyn, Juliana and Delainey Kenny.
She cared greatly about all of her nieces and nephews, especially Cheryl and Christina who were an invaluable source of support, rides and fun over her last years.
Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday April 3rd from 9:30am to 11:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Thursday April 3rd at 12pm. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
