Margaret Myhal (nee Rooney), a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Tuesday April 2, 2013 at Calvary Hospital. She was 85 years old. She was born on June 5, 1927 to Thomas and Mary Ellen Brennan Rooney in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. Mrs. Myhal was a switchboard operator at St. John’s Riverside for over twenty years until her retirement. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the House of Peace Prayer Group. She enjoyed painting at the Senior Citizen’s Center on Nepperhan Ave. and the Charlie Cola Center. On May 18, 1963, she married her loving husband, John Myhal in Sacred Heart Church. Mr. Myhal died on December 23, 2007. Mrs. Myhal is survived by two sons, John Myhal of Yonkers and Thomas Myhal and his wife Traci of Suffern and one brother, Peter Rooney of Poughquag, NY. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, John Michael, Stephanie, Richie, Abby and Jenna. She was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, John and Joseph Rooney and one sister, Kathleen Rooney. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Friday April 5th at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
