Madeline Scarcelli, known also as “Zizi” and “Chippy” (nee Cajano) formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y. passed away on June 13, 2010 at age 98 at the Michael Malotz Nursing Home in Yonkers with her niece Maria by her side. She was a resident of Yonkers for the past twelve years at her niece’s home. She was known for her positive and hopeful attitude and never failed to make friends wherever she traveled. She was born September 16, 1911 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to Vincent and Maria Cajano and was married to her late husband, Joseph on June 12, 1937. She worked at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for forty-seven years as supervisor in the loan division. She was a devoted Aunt to Maria (Marco) Minasso of Yonkers, Vincent (Karen) Cajano of Boca Raton, Frank (Angela) Calabria of Schenectady, Marilyn (Alfred) Chiarella of Del Ray Beach, Anna Maria Baffa of Italy, Michele (Caterina) Baffa of Italy and her late nephew Totonno (Maria) Baffa of Italy and many grand and great grand and great-great grand nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Anna and her brother Pasquale Cajano. While in Yonkers, she was a member of Christ the King Parish, past member of the Rosary Altar Society and attended Senior Citizens Group 7 regularly.
Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 17th at Christ the King Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island.
