Lillian Dorain Fields, 61, of Bear, Delaware died on Sunday, October 10, 2021, in Seasons Hospice at Christiana Care Hospital after battling a brief illness. She was born to Dennis Edward Fields, Sr, and the late Mary Ellen Fields on June 21, 1960, in Yonkers, New York. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Yonkers, NY where she was baptized. Lillian attended Yonkers Public Schools and received academic awards and diplomas. She was crowned “Homecoming Queen” of Yonkers High School for the Class of 1978. Lillian graduated from Westchester Community College where she received an Associate Certificate in Early Childhood Special Education.
Lillian began her career working with children as a Head Start Program Teacher at the Church of Our Savior, Yonkers, NY. After working there for many years, she continued her work in the field at WESTCOP for twenty-seven years. Lillian also worked at Greenburgh Graham Elementary School as a paraprofessional and as a Home Health Aide for Quality Care. Lillian was an outgoing individual who loved modeling and bartending. She had a warm and greeting smile for everyone she met. She was warmly embraced by all while employed at Jam’n Cocktail Lounge, Samuel H. Dow American Legion Post and Terrace City Lodge in Yonkers, New York. She treated everyone as if they were her family. Lillian was an active community member in the City of Yonkers. She was instrumental with her involvement in many organizations in which she belonged to. Lillian was a member of Samuel H. Dow American Legion Auxiliary #1017. She served as Secretary and was the current Vice-President up until her death. Lillian was also a member of the Samuel H. Dow Boosters Club and Terrace City Chapter #26 Prince Hall Order of Eastern Stars in Yonkers, New York.
Lillian was also the creator and innovator of Sister Gurlz Too, a motivational platform on social media that inspired and encouraged “Queens and Kings” in the morning. Lillian’s Motto was “Live, Laugh and Love Life to the Fullest.”
Lillian was a loving daughter, sister, godmother, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Dennis E. Fields. Sr. who currently resides in Yonkers, NY, a sister, Katherine Fields (Bear, Delaware); whom she cared for and love dearly;
five brothers: Dennis Fields Jr., (Lynda) (Connecticut), Lloyd Fields (NYC), Keith Fields (Mount Vernon, NY), Darin and Robert Fields (Yonkers, NY). She dearly loved her goddaughter Deanna Lee (Yonkers, NY), and her sister’s granddaughter, Devin Wiley (Brooklyn, NY). Lillian had eleven nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and nephews, numerous relatives, cousins, and close friends who all had a special place in her heart.
Lillian was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen Fields, and her
grandparents, Thomas Arthur Sydnor and Lillian Katherine Jackson-Sydnor-Daniel, and Anderson and Victoria Fields.
A viewing for Lillian will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Messiah Baptist Church, 76 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10703. A homegoing service will occur Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 76 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10703. A private cremation will occur.
