Leaving behind a loving wife, Zenia with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. 5 daughters Elizabeth Reed, NC Tiffany Williams Martin, GA Shonda Martin, GA Jamicka Martin NY and Jennifer Martin, NY Jimmy had 15 siblings. Preceded in death by 5 brothers, Thomas, Lawrence Jr., Billy, Stanley, and Darell Lee Martin; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Ann Clemons, and Flora Lee Martin.
Surviving siblings 1 brother Nathaniel Martin, (Falisha,) 7 sisters, Alberta Drake of Florida, Rosetta Mangum of Kimball, WV, Alice London of Palm Dale, CA, Brenda Martin of Columbus, OH, Dana Martin, Yonkers, NY, Charlene Gamble, (Jeffrey,) of Princeton WV, and Deborah Foster, of OH. 9 Grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews and countless friends, Jimmy's life was a testament to the adage "life is a highway." His passion for classic cars wasn't just a passing lane—it was his road-tripped love affair. From the roar of an engine to the shine on a bumper, he knew how to make old beauties purr like they were fresh off the lot.
When he wasn't in the driver's seat, Jimmy could be found walking 2 to 3 miles daily and touring the town. Or taking trips to see family and his Childhood friend whom he was very close with. Smitty” William Smith he loved spending a lot of his recent time with his Buddy Steve of Steve’s tow,whom he was very fond of. Laughing and making jokes.
Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 3-7pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday January 30th at 10am. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
