James J. Manning Sr.

He was born on December 13, 1932 to James J. and Mary E. (Dooley) Manning in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. On September 27 1952 he married his childhood sweetheart Marguerite (Honey) Farrell, she passed in 2014. He is survived by his 6 children Barbara Ann (John) Salkowicz; Dawn (Keith) Levandoski; Carol Lynn Manning; Jean Marie (Dennis) Robertson; Thomas (Leslie) Manning and Sean (Corinne) Manning, 23 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son James Jr. who passed in 1992, as well as 3 sisters Catherine Peyton, June Traut and Margaret Manning. James was president of North Yonkers Boys and Girls Club, where he coached baseball and football. Twenty year member of the Board of Directors. Upon retiring from the Reliability Department at General Motors for over 45 years, he volunteered at PCRENEW to refurbish computers to donate to nonprofit organizations. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Thursday at 9:30am. A private cremation will follow.
