Dr. Alexander peacefully transitioned from this life on February 15, 2022 at her home in Yonkers, New York, She was 64 years old.
Dr. Alexander was born on May 18, 1957 in the village of Wesley, Commonwealth of Dominica to Francis and Euthelie Alexander. She was the sixth of thirteen and arguably the most strong-willed of them all. A trait that would define her character, drive, tenacity, and resilience throughout her lived experiences.
After graduating from Wesley High School, Dr. Alexander started her career in healthcare. She began working in the Psychiatric unit at Princess Margaret Hospital in Roseau, Dominica. Dr. Alexander continued her career development path by attending the University of the Virgin Islands where she obtained her Undergraduate degree in Nursing. She would subsequently obtain her Master's degree of Nursing followed by her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Walden University. Her graduation ceremony took place in Minneapolis, MN USA. Dr. Alexander dedicated over 40 years of service in the healthcare field, specializing in pediatric care for most of her career. Her tenure encompassed several health care institutions. Most recently her 15 year tenure at Montefiore Medical Center filled her with great joy. Her legacy in the medical field will impact many generations to come.
Dr. Alexander volunteered in Haiti on multiple occasions after the catastrophic 2010 earthquake. Lending her expert nursing skills and experience to the impacted residents.
Along with being a nursing professional, Dr. Alexander was a professor of nursing where she taught and mentored aspiring medical professionals.
She loved nature, its greenery and the life-giving waters of a flowing river or sandy beach. She enjoyed hiking and exploring new destinations while traveling across the globe. Ultimately her heart and love for her home country of Dominica was unmatched. It was her desire to retire in her home country.
Dr. Alexander was predeceased by her father Henry Cecil Francis Alexander, brothers: Stephen and Curtley Alexander, and sister: Sheila Alexander. She leaves behind her longtime partner Cleve Jno-Charles and is survived by her four sons; Ken Xavier, Al Xavier, Neal Carbon and Armsby Carbon, daughter; Mariah Jno-Charles, mother; Euthelie Alexander; siblings; Philomen Fransica Titre, Leonard Victor Alexander, Caswell Pat Alexander, Allyne Alexander, Jane “Conilia” Alexander, Esley Cuffy, Richard Alexander, Henry Reginald Alexander and Edith Alexander.
She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren; Kumiko Xavier, Kymora Xavier, Daniel Xavier, Marcei Xavier and Kennedy ‘Eden’ Xavier.
Viewing, followed by funeral services will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home - Dignity Memorial in Yonkers, NY.
