George was born in Yonkers on April 29, 1927 (?), to George C. and Frances M. Hennessey Palmerton. George attended St Joseph's elementary school in Yonkers and graduated from Gorton High School. He worked as a bartender and in construction. He was also a well-liked crossing guard for St Anthony's school and PS #22 in Yonkers. He now joins the love of his life, wife Ann Evans Palmerton and his sons George and Kenneth Palmerton. George was predeceased by a brother John and 5 sisters Rita Kimmy, Frances Wilchek, Agnes Sullivan, Maryann Marietta, Margaret Brundage and Jeanne Cairns. Also survived by several generations of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws throughout the country. George enjoyed people and was blessed with a sassy sense of humor.
Anyone who knew George knew he was a passionate fan of the Yankees but that his heart was broken when the Brooklyn Dodgers moved away.
George excelled in baseball not only as a player but also as a coach. He coached baseball for many years and was very one of the founders of the Lake Ave North Yonkers Boys Club.
As a proud Veteran, he served in Panama at the end of WW II and was honorably discharged.
We are grateful for the entire staff of St. Cabrini Nursing Home for their tremendous care and compassion to our Uncle George over the years, and most especially, in his final days.
