D’ALESSANDRO, (Francesco) Frank, M. M.D. age 91, on June 13, 2020
Long time Yonkers resident and attending physician at St. John’s Riverside Hospital and dedicated private practitioner for over 50 years. His passion for travel, gardening, wine-making, Italian culture, particularly opera, as well as science and history, were all well-known to his friends, colleagues, and family. He donated much of his time to the Graham Windham School and various nursing homes in Westchester for the better part of 30 years. As a physician he made house-calls until his retirement at age 80. He was the proud son of Italian immigrants, Giovanni and Pasqualina D’Alessandro, from Pisticci, (Provincia di Matera) Italy, who settled in the Park Hill section of Yonkers in the late 1920s. He graduated from New York University and later from the University of Bologna School of Medicine in Bologna, Italy. In January 1957 he interned at St. Clare’s Hospital in manhattan where he met and fell in love with Mary Julia Grace; they were married in November 1959. He is survived by his three devoted sons and two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law: John and Mary Jo D’Alessandro, Edward and Beth D’Alessandro, and Franco (Frankie) D’Alessandro and Michael Milek; and his loving grandchildren Luke and his wife Kelsey, Andra Grace, Brian, Tessa, and Lena, as well as his loving sister Lena (D’Alessandro) Lipolis and Thirteen adoring nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Julia Grace D’Alessandro.
Due to Covid-19 and the advanced age of many relatives and friends we will not be holding a wake or mass.
Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yonkers, New York.
