She is survived by her loving husband, Thaddeus R. Glica and her two children, Stephen Glica and Joanne Glica-Enea (husband Anthony), two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was born in Yonkers, New York, graduated from Commerce High School with honors and was a bookkeeper for King Oldsmobile in New York City.
Eileen married the love of her life in 1955. They built a marriage that knew no bounds. Eileen was a devoted wife and mother. She was a wonderful role model for her two children, teaching them the importance of a good education, sharing a love of reading and imparting the life-long values that they carry with them to this day. She taught her children that nothing is perfect, but to always try their best and have a positive attitude. In Eileen’s later years, she enjoyed trips to Disney World with Ted, hosted family holidays and was very active in the Homefield community, regularly attending Senior Citizens meetings and holding a position as Treasurer. She enjoyed bowling, attending Broadway musicals and gardening.
Although Eileen loved her hobbies, her favorite role was being a grandmother. She treasured time with her grandkids, Lauren and Michael, and loved being their “Gagi.” She never failed to pick them up from school without a signature kielbasa or American combo sandwich and always had something fun and interesting in her “Mary Poppins” bag. Most recently, Eileen was blessed to also know and love her two great grandchildren, Lily and James, who came up with her new silly nickname “Gagoo.”
Always the optimist, Eileen read the “funnies” daily and shared them with her children and grandchildren to ensure that everyone got a good laugh. Eileen will be remembered for the way she made us feel, which can only be described as special. Ted will continue to cherish his bride and the wonderful life they shared. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, Gagi or Gagoo and will miss her everyday. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all of us. In lieu of Flowers, donations to The National MS Society would be greatly appreciated by Eileen’s family. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3-7pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday March 26th at 5:30 pm. Final Disposition is private.
