She was born on May 7, 1956 to the late Edith G. and George H. Vernon. She is predeceased by her husband Henry Price, Sr. She is survived by her children, Henry Price, Jr of Yonkers and Dana (James) Green of White Plains; sisters Andrea (Michael) Epps and Laura (John) MacDonald; her longtime partner Sidney Jackson and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, to whom she was an adored figure. She was also predeceased by her brothers George H. Vernon and John E. Vernon.
Cheryl was educated in the Yonkers Public Schools and attended Yonkers High School. She worked for over 20 years for IBM and later for more than 15 years for Kawasaki Rail Car in Yonkers, NY until her retirement.
Cheryl was affectionately known as ‘Dink’ to numerous family and friends. She was such a caring and personable individual. Always “willing”; better said “dedicated” to being a helping hand, or to offer her assistance. Cheryl knew who you were, and most probably your parents and children also. She was sometimes the family historian or storyteller (Griot) who would pass down family memories and specific dates (very specific) of important occurrences and events.
Two of her favorite times of year were Halloween and Christmas. She took pride in decorating the “263” lobby with elaborate displays, at her own expense AND effort. Cheryl gave so much joy to the building occupants and everyone looked forward to enjoying the festivities.
Her smile made you smile! Cheryl encouraged you to be as happy as she was, as happy as we all should be.
