Catherine Garbowski

She was born July 12, 1929 in Yonkers, New York to Dominic and Ellen Moran. Catherine married Edward S. Garbowski on April 30, 1955; they were married for 34 years until his passing on December 30, 1989. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Thomas Moran and daughter Kathleen.

After retiring from a career in the library of the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Catherine spent many years as a volunteer at St. John’s Riverside Hospital near her home in Yonkers. Catherine also was a long time parishioner of St. Mary’s (the Church of the Immaculate Conception), until she moved to north Yonkers and was active in Christ the King parish.

She is survived by her brothers James, Denis and Jack (and their wives), her daughter Mary Ellen Bussanich and husband Gerard Bussanich, son Mark Garbowski and wife Helen Garbowski, by grand-daughters Kristen Sangregorio, Lauren Rodriguez, Ann Garbowski, Claire Garbowski, and great-grandchild Evie Sangregorio, in addition to many much loved nieces, nephews and friends.

Her family meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
