Barrett, Carmen Alice, 83, died on November 7, 2017. Born in the Bronx to John and Eufemia Rodriguez on June 19, 1934. Alice moved to Yonkers to raise her family and became a lifelong resident. She worked at Rabinow’s and WDF Green. Alice was a talented artist who shared her love of art by teaching oriental painting, knitting, quilting and crocheting. She was in the Sketchbook Drawing and Art Group and exhibited her work around Westchester County; including at The Matters of the Heart Art Show. She was an avid team bowler who enjoyed competing at Homefield Bowl in Yonkers. Alice was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver Award in 1994; an award that is given to adult leaders who have impacted the lives of the young through their hard work, self-sacrifice and dedication. An award that is given to those who do not seek it, a true testament to the type of woman she was. She was loved deeply by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Alice is survived by her sister Juanita, her children, Laura (Charlie), Brenda, Gregory (Marisa) and Brian, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her brothers Hernan and John. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday 2-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Thursday November 9th at 11am. Final disposition will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
