Ann Mary O’Brien Kinnally, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died peacefully on October 24, 2023 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her parents Helen and Michael O’Brien, and her husband of 61 years, Robert Seton Kinnally. A graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Elizabeth Seton College, and Iona College, Ann was a longtime community and church volunteer, holding leadership positions at Yonkers Child Care Association, the American Cancer Society, the Untermeyer Performing Arts Council, and the Catholic Youth Organization. A gifted pianist, she taught her children to appreciate music and encouraged them to study that art, foregoing what would have been a successful musical career of her own. A mentor to many teens and college students, Ann spent decades as a youth minister, academic advisor, and counselor. Embarking on her own college career after raising her children, Ann went on to earn a graduate degree in Pastoral Counseling and worked as a family therapist in addition to holding management positions at Iona College, Catholic New York, and Sacred Heart—Our Lady of Pompei Parish in Dobbs Ferry. Ann was a member of the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers where she and the love of her life were married. Her faith was strong and she instilled that love of God, prayer, and the Mass in her family and in the teens and young adults that were a part of her life. She is survived by her children, Rev. Robert M. Kinnally, and Sheila Kinnally Chu (Kenny); and one grandson, Robert J. Chu. In addition, she is survived by cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann’s family is deeply grateful for the loving care extended by Shirley, Chiara, Salvacion, Elsa, Vivienne, Nino, and Elena as well as the staff at St. Cabrini.
