Born on December 29, 1927 to Stefan and Anna (Kalina) Soltis, he attended Most Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated in 1945 from Saunders Trade and Technical School. In 1946 Mr. Soltis served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Fort Ord, CA, where he received an honorable discharge. On September 24, 1955, he married the love of his life, Shirley Memmerth in Most Holy Trinity Church. Mrs. Soltis predeceased him on May 8, 1977. In 1980, he received an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Westchester Community College. He was employed as a draftsman and mechanical engineer at several companies including George Hantcho in Mount Vernon, Baldwin Gegenheimer in Stamford, CT, and North American Phillips Corp. in Mount Vernon, where he received several design patents. He retired in 1986. He was a parishioner of both St. Ann’s Church and Most Holy Trinity Church. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of several bowling leagues in Westchester County. He was also on the 50th year reunion committee for Saunders Technical And Trade School. He is survived by two sons, Steven Soltis (Catherine) of Yorktown Heights and Michael Soltis of Dumont, N.J. He is also survived by his grandson, Jack Soltis, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Elsie, Anna, Mary and Helen Soltis. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Church on Monday, February 4th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
