Andrea Formato

Andrea passed away on October 23, 2024, at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, NY. She was comfortable & passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side.

She was born on November 9, 1948, in the Bronx, to Sam & Lilian (Pape) Harrison. She later went on to marry Frank Formato, who predeceased her on July 18, 1996. Together, they moved to Yonkers, and had two daughters, Annmarie & Kristy.

She later on made her home in Briarcliff Manor, NY and worked for Verizon as a field technician for more than 20 years.

Those who knew Andrea, knew her as a fighter, a warrior, someone who battled cancer for 18 years and never once thought about giving up the fight and she did it with a smile. She celebrated life and surrounded herself with loving family and friends.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Annmarie Formato (Rob), Kristy (Christopher) DiDona, stepson Anthony (Marci) Formato, beloved grandchildren Alex, Gus, Adriana, Nicholas, Liliana and Michael.

Andrea touched so many people’s lives and those that knew her, loved her. In the days leading up to her passing, Andrea was surrounded by her loving family and devoted friends.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations to be made in Andrea’s name to the charities closest to her heart, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Visiting hours for Andrea will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703. Funeral service will take place on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Ave, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706.
