A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she was born on June 12, 1934, in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to Hassan Saad and Ghada Turay.
Early Life
She was raised alongside her siblings Amina Rebai (deceased), Charlie Ashley (deceased), and Amadu Jalloh of Brooklyn, NY. Big dreams and her love for family and community shaped Amy's childhood. She attended St Joseph's Secondary School in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and later moved to the United States and attended Wilfred Beauty School in New York City, and resided in Brooklyn.
Marriage and Family Life
Amy was married twice. She first wed Alie Mohammed Jaffa, now deceased, and later Edmund Tetteh, also deceased. Amy's family was the joy of her life, and she was the beloved matriarch to her children, Aliea Kamara, Fawzi Jaffa (deceased), Lauretta Lucas, Amira Wells (deceased), Anniyea Jaffa, Edwin Tetteh, Loving Tetteh, and Dr. Hassan Tetteh. She is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Career and Achievements
Amy dedicated herself to service at Palm Gardens and Cobble Hill Nursing Homes, where she retired after 25 years. Unwavering kindness and commitment marked Amy's professional journey, and she left a lasting impact on those she cared for and the many who were fortunate to work with her.
Personal Interests
A devout Catholic, Amy was a proud member of the Rosary Society. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Family was at the core of Amy's world. Her guiding principles were hard work, faith, and courage, and her love for family knew no bounds.

Service Details
Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday August 16th at 9:30am with interment to follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, NJ.
