Aleksander was born on March 19, 1929 in Rakowo, Poland to Antoni and Eleonora Poplawski. He was educated in Poland, worked on his family farm, and married Halina Rydzewska on July 1,1961. Aleksander immigrated from Poland with his family in 1965 in search of the American Dream. He achieved his business and family goals all while working hard and living a simple life.
Upon coming to America, Aleksander held many positions. He worked at Ciba-Geigy in Ardsley, NY and Columbia University Nevis Labs in Irvington, NY where he took pride in maintaining and preserving the properties. Aleksander was praised continuously for his work ethic and attention to detail.
Aleksander retired in 1987, enjoying his family, listening to Polish music, and managing his properties. He was a master of many trades, and treasured his garden, trees and flowers. Aleksander will always be remembered as a man who took pride in his work and for always lending a helping hand to those in need.
In addition to Halina, his wife of 60 years, Aleksander is survived by his devoted children, Miranda (Robert) Leonetti, Mark (Jolanta) Poplawski, Anna (James) Birrittella, and Mary (Angelo) Perri. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Amanda, Ava, Lauren, Matthew, Benjamin, Hannah, Alexander, and Adam. All of which he admired greatly, and who will carry his legacy.
Aleksander is predeceased by his brothers Joseph, Henryk, Mieczyslaw, and sister Eugenia.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY. An interment will follow the mass at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
