Yarmouth, ME- Peter G. White, 84, passed away on April 11, 2025, at his home. He was born in Portland, a son of George and Gladys (Greenwood) White. Peter grew up in South Portland and graduated high school in 1960. He received a degree in Radio/Broadcasting and spent 3 years in the Army that included a tour in Korea.
He spent most of his work career in sales, retiring from Nabisco. Peter didn’t know how to retire so he ran a hot dog stand in front of Casco Bay Ferry Lines for many summers. He spent winters, “playing with the big boy toys” for AAA. He became a home inspector and owned Town and Country Home Inspections and most recently worked for the Town of Yarmouth.
He was and will be fondly remembered as a friendly man who never met a stranger. He always had a smile, a kind word and a story to share.
Peter was a Master Mason and past Master of Acacia lodge. He was a member of Hiram lodge in South Portland and Kora Shrine in Lewiston.
He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers Richard and Billy.
He is survived by his wife Janet; sister, Anne Hunnewell and husband Richard; daughters, Carole Anne White and Brenda Billings; sons, Peter (Chip) White and Jeffrey Mumma. He is also survived 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
