He is predeceased by his father, Paul Leo Lavallee Sr, his Mother Cleo Elizabeth Lavallee, his brother James Lavallee, his first wife Trina Louise Lavallee, his third wife, Patricia Lavallee and his son in law John Rolfe as well as many lifelong friends. He is survived by his sister, Pauline Smith, his children Paul (Happy) L Lavallee III, Janelle C Lavallee, Daniel J Lavallee, Laura J Parent, Heidi J Levesque and her husband Carl Levesque, His daughter in law Michelle Davison and step children Christina Hutchins, Bob Wallace, Shawn Parent, and Eric parent, as well as his grandchildren Mya Davison, Quinn Lavallee, Nick Hutchins, Eleanor Hutchins, Nate Hutchins, Justin Wallace and Amber Brown, many nieces and nephews and so many others that will sorely miss his presence in this world.
Paul was born in Brunswick Maine on April 21, 1943. He attended Brunswick high school, then the University of Maine in Orono before entering the Army where he was a helicopter gun ship pilot in Vietnam. While attending officer candidate school in Texas, Paul met and married the love of his life Trina Louis Yeager. Paul and Trina had two children, Happy and Janelle before Trina passed away in 1976. Paul married his second wife, and although the marriage only lasted a few years, he happily expanded his forever role as father to his stepchildren, Eric, Shawn, Heidi and Laura and welcomed his second son, Daniel.
Paul married his third wife, Patricia Lavallee, in the mid-90s, welcoming Christina and Bob as stepchildren with open arms. Paul and Pat were together for almost 20 years before Pat’s passing in 2012, where Paul was at her side until the end.
Paul’s greatest joys in life were his children and grandchildren and he cherished family above all. He was a devoted son, brother, soldier, husband, father, pepere (pey), uncle and friend to so many throughout his life. He was charismatic, selfless, patient, kind, loving, understanding, and non-judgmental. Ever the ladies man in his fedora with his cigar and most handsome smile and always ready with a dad joke to make those around him smile. Though I am sure that there was a celebration like no other when he rejoined those who passed before him, he will be sorely missed by those he left behind. Until we see you again, we will do our best to continue your legacy of love and acceptance and try really hard not to get the water wet. The world is a better place because you were in it.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Paul’s house at 4A Pine Cove Road, Gray Maine on Saturday, October 12 starting at 2 PM. Please contact his children for additional details
