Hartford, ME – Patricia L. Kimball, 82, of Hartford, formerly of Cumberland, died at home on Monday November 5, 2012 after a period of declining health. She was born on August 12, 1930 in West Cumberland, the only child of Joseph and Frances (Nelson) Romano. She was educated in Cumberland schools and graduated from Greely High School, Class of 1948. She then attended Northeastern Business School in Portland and had her first job at Hayes Drug Store.
Herbert Kimball, her husband of 61 years, first met Pat in July of 1950 while he was making a grain delivery to the Hulit farm. For him – it was love at first sight and on February 3, 1951 they were married in South Portland. Pat was a homemaker for her three children and she created many wonderful memories because of her focus on family. It was not uncommon for her children to have warm cookies waiting for them when they got off the bus. True to her heritage she was great at cooking Italian food and excelled at candy making, especially her peanut butter fudge.
Over the years Pat was affiliated with Avon and was a member of the President’s Club many times. She enjoyed playing Uno, the piano, cross-stitch, crochet and camping, most recently at Pine Tree Acres in Buckfield. For the past 11 years Pat and Herb wintered in Wauchula, FL.
Pat will be remembered as a spirited woman who had “spunk”. She also had an openness to seeing things from her children’s point of view and this helped to reinforce their experience of being loved and knowing it – even if they might be in the wrong. Pat had a comforting laugh that is best described as a giggle. She will be greatly missed.
Pat is survived by her husband, Herbert J. Kimball of Hartford; her daughter Judith Bouffard and her children Shawn, James, and Sarah; her son David Kimball and his wife Karen Knight and their son Derek; her son Bruce Kimball and his wife Laurie Childers and their son Jesse; and her four great-grandchildren: Brooks, Logan, Ben and Morgan.
A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held next spring. Please visit www.lindquistfuneralhome.com to share your condolences, memories and tributes with Pats family.
