He was born on August 19,1959, in Calais, ME to Josephine Drotar Ramsdell and Paul Lawrence Robb.
He graduated from Woodland High School in 1977 where he made the best of his life by participating in multiple sports and several extracurricular activities. He had a wonderful childhood growing up in a small Downeast town with his five sisters and always managed to keep busy. When he was not out delivering newspapers or flipping burgers at McDonald’s, Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, being outdoors, and hanging out with his Bubs.
He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a B.S. in Accounting in 1981. While at Orono, he met the love of his life, Linda Anita Buttarazzi. They were married in 1983 and enjoyed over 40 years of beautiful partnership and marriage.
His career in accounting and systems engineering led him to Southern Maine. Michael worked for numerous companies, including American Frozen Foods, Reece Corporation, Georgia-Pacific, Hannaford, O’Neil & Walker, Unum, and ended his career as an IT Systems Engineer for DXC Technology at Bath Iron Works. Mike took much pride in his professional work, always paying attention to detail and emphasizing spending the extra time testing and doing things right the first time. This, along with his positive attitude toward any endeavor earned him the respect of his work team members. Throughout his career, he established close relationships with several co-workers which he maintained and cherished until his death.
Michael and Linda welcomed their daughter, Michelle Anita, in 1987, followed by their son, Ryan Paul, in 1989. They decided to settle in Cumberland and built a house there in 1990. Raising his children with Linda was the most rewarding experience of his life. His children were his pride and joy and he loved spending time with them.
Growing up, Mike loved playing baseball and developed a passion for fastpitch softball in the 1970’s as a player and umpire. Therefore, it was no surprise that in fatherhood, he thoroughly enjoyed playing baseball and softball with his children. He took pride in watching them compete in various sports (especially in Greely State Championships) and rarely missed a game. He started his coaching career with the Cumberland and North Yarmouth Suburban Little League and served as a member on the Board of Directors.
He continued coaching softball at the high school and ASA level. He was the Greely High School varsity coach from 2008-2010 and the Falmouth High School varsity coach in 2011 and 2012. He truly felt he had a perspective and love of the game worth sharing. As a coach, he did his best to teach the players respect for the game, their teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and themselves. Win or lose they could hold their heads high knowing they gave their best effort and left it all on the field.
He was an active member of the Moonlite Sno-Skimmers Snowmobile Club for several years until his illness. Maintaining trails and establishing friendships with fellow riders was incredibly rewarding. He was inducted as an honorary member in December of 2022.
Later in life, Mike embarked on a new hobby and passion: boating. Learning about boats and navigating Casco Bay and the lakes of Maine with Linda during the summer months was what he looked forward to most when he was not working.
Michael cherished his entire extended family; they always came first, and he took great pride in helping them and his friends in any way that he could, whether it was being a crafty handyman, second mate, or tech specialist, he was at his happiest when he could give a helping hand to anyone who needed one.
Becoming a grandparent was one of his greatest joys. As an avid New England sports fan, he adopted the nickname “Papi” which filled him with true happiness. Papi and Nana, loved the time they had together, spending time with and watching their granddaughters grow.
The Robb family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his MaineHealth Care at Home nurse, Jackie, for her months of compassionate care, the entire care team at New England Life Care, Hospice of Southern Maine, the surgical team and nurses at Johns Hopkins Hospital and all their Meadow Lane neighbors for the love, support, and many acts of kindness they provided during these past two years.
Mike was predeceased by his father Paul Lawrence Robb.
