David William Bradley

David William Bradley, former Maine journalist and telecommunications industry executive, died at his home in Georgetown, ME on February 1, 2016. Born August 3, 1941 in Somerville, MA, Dave was the son of Richard and Eleanor (Sullivan) Bradley. He was raised in Manchester, NH and was graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1963. A natural writer, Dave was a standout on his college newspaper, The New Hampshire, and began his career in journalism writing for the Holyoke (MA) Transcript Telegram. In 1967 he became the Bureau Manager for United Press International in the state of Maine. He left UPI in 1972 to join the New England Telephone Company in their Employee Communications department. Dave held several positions with New England Telephone and New York Telephone, ending his career in 1997 as the Director of Video Services for NYNEX in New York City.

Known for his quick wit and easy laughter, Dave had a legion of friends in low and high places. “His secret was simple,” said one of them, “He was always the most comfortable guy to be around.” A natural athlete, Dave began skiing at Sugarloaf in 1968 and built a home there in 1972. He was happiest in his retirement years skiing and sailing along the Maine coast on his beloved boat, Legacy.

Dave leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Emerson Bradley and his two daughters Jennifer Bradley Petersen and Rebecca Jane Sethi as well as their husbands Edward Petersen and Harneet Sethi. He also is survived by four grandchildren: Joshua and Benjamin Petersen and Hannah and Amelia Sethi. His sister Carolyn Bradley Whittaker of Hemet, CA also survives him, as do several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at the Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME. Visitation will be at 10 AM, with a service at 11 AM, and a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tate House Museum Preservation Fund would be appreciated.
