South Freeport- Audrey Elizabeth (Grant, Leonard, Murphy) Hayes, 88, of South Freeport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Audrey was born on September 28, 1930 in Portland, ME, the daughter of Alice V. (MacDonald) and Allister H. (Sandy) Grant.
Audrey grew up in Portland and was a graduate of Deering High School, class of 1948. Following graduation, she began a long career in Portland as an office professional with certain insurance companies, including Commercial Union. Audrey was active in Rainbow Girls, Eastern Star, The Freeport Lions Club and she helped to get Freeport Elders started. Audrey sang in several church choirs including the South Freeport Congregational Church, she had a vast interest in music and had a love for her pets over the years.
Audrey is survived by her son, Charles G. Leonard Jr.; grandchildren, Charles, Noel and Danielle; great grandchildren, Charlotte, Adam, Auger, Finley, Lilli and Grant; her sister, Virginia deBree; her brother, Daniel Grant and her nephews, David E. deBree and Steven N. deBree.
She was predeceased by her three husbands and her granddaughter Molly.
A Celebration of Audrey's life will take place on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 12-1 P.M., with a service to follow at Lindquist Funeral Home 1 Mayberry Lane Yarmouth, ME.
