Willie Dean Owens was born in Izard County, Arkansas on April 27, 1942 to Gladys and Johnny Owens. He was one of five children. Willie attended school in Moxee, WA and graduated from East Valley High School in 1960. He then studied business at Yakima Business College. He started Pacific Avenue Equipment in 1960 and sold chain saws, lawn mowers and farming equipment for several decades, and provided services to WA, OR, ID, MT and CA.
He was a volunteer for the District 13 Fire Department where he worked as an EMT and was a Chief Firefighter.
Willie married Gay (Prinke) on September 7, 1963. He was a loving father of three children and was a great provider. He especially enjoyed giving tractor rides and reminiscing about farm equipment. Many family trips would not be complete without stopping at an implement yard. Willie was a devoted Christian and served as a Sunday School teacher and occasionally preached at Church of Christ.
He is survived by his siblings, Claira (Vern) Bakker, Debbie (Jim) Bell and Frank Owens, his children, Scottie Douglas (Betsy) Owens of Selah, Melissa (Jim) Head of Yakima, and Russell Owens of Moxee, his grandchildren, Nathan (Brianna) Weber of Yakima, Amanda (Jake) Bobbitt of Ohio, Jamison Owens of Yakima, Jenna Head of Yakima and Savannah Feise (Owens), and great granddaughter, Faith Weber, all of Yakima, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
