William Everett Harrison

William E. Harrison of Yakima passed away December 31, 2014 at the age of 67 with his family by his side. Bill was born August 26, 1947 to Albert and Dolores Harrison in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He attended schools in Coeur d’Alene and Federal Way, Washington. He graduated from Federal Way High School in 1965. In December 1965 Bill joined the U.S. Navy and served on the aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Constellation for three tours in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in September of 1968. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. After leaving the service, Bill attended Green River C.C. while working at Boeing. In 1970 he moved to Yakima to be closer to family. Bill met Lorie A. Volskey while working together. They married in August of 1971. They had two sons, Brad (wife Heather, grandchildren Bryce and Hayden) and Brian (grandchildren Seth and Elly). He worked in the construction industry for more than 30 years including construction instructor at Job Corps and regional safety director for the Carpenter’s Union. He enjoyed playing softball and coaching little league for several years. He loved to be outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or camping. He developed a talent for the game of golf and gourmet cooking. He loved to BBQ and party with his friends and family especially at the annual oyster feed. He had a great sense of humor and a positive attitude throughout his life. Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lorie, sons Brad and Brian and their families, father Al Harrison and companion Lois, brother Doug (wife Gerri) of Bend, OR, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law Deanna Husch and her family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Harrison and in-laws Dean and Helen Volskey. There will be a graveside service at West Hills Memorial Park, 11 AM January 8, 2015.
