She was born January 15, 1930 in Spokane, WA to Walter and Ebba Thorsen. Wanda was raised in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School. She attended Washington State University, where she earned a bachelor of pharmacy degree. At WSU she met the love of her life, Ken. They were married June 28, 1952 and settled in Tieton, WA. They were happily married for 59 years and lovingly raised their two sons, Michael and Gary.
Wanda worked as a pharmacist in the Yakima Valley and enjoyed this career for 55 years. She loved h helping people. Her customers appreciated her kindness and wealth of knowledge. She was an active member of the local Roddato Club, Women’s Century Club, and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. One of Wanda’s favorite activities was traveling throughout Europe and Australia with her sister, Margaret. For many years Wanda volunteered at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Wanda’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with her friends and family. She held a special place in her heart for her three grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up. Wanda touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Ken, sons, Michael (Debbie) and Gary (Linda), sister Margaret, grandchildren, Jenny, Scott (Brenda) and Christopher (Tori), and great granddaughter, Katelyn.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Ken and Wanda were members of First Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
