Rocky was an Army Veteran serving in Vietnam from ‘67 to ‘69 as part of the 9th Infantry Division. He was also a proud member of the Blackfeet Nation. He was a founding member of the United Indian Association, and a member of the National Association of Blackfeet Indians.
In 1949 he moved to the Yakima Valley with his parents. As a child he enjoyed boxing in the local boxing club where he was coached by his older brothers who were accomplished boxers themselves. After high school he spent some time in Alaska and California where he graduated from trade school as a welder.
In 1967 Rocky volunteered for the draft. He was stationed in Fort Still, OK where he was trained in artillery and Mechanized Infantry. He was stationed in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. He was a highly decorated soldier, and was awarded three bronze stars in combat.
He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish, hunt, and camp. He was especially proud to be able to work on an all Blackfeet Wildland firefighting crew with his brothers and nephews.
Rocky was extremely devoted to his family and loved to spend time with them. He also really enjoyed spending time with his sisters whenever he got the opportunity. Rocky supported his family by coaching the family softball team, and attending sporting events for all his children and grandchildren.
Rocky was proud of his children, his family, his Blackfeet heritage, and especially the Calf Robe name.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Calf Robe; son Richard Calf Robe; brothers Grinnell Calf Robe, Herbert Calf Robe, and Wilford Calf Robe; sisters Ruth Lowe and Carol Beach; nephew George Lowe; grandson Joe M Jackson (USMC, KIA); and his namesake Vincent “Uncle Bim” Double Runner.
Rocky is survived by his wife Debbie Calf Robe; sisters Frieda Poirer and Myrna Salway; best friends Mary “Bunny” Marceau and Wayne Beach; children Gary Marceau Sr., Shawn (Faye) Marceau, Gregory (Keely) Calf Robe, Herby Calf Robe, Heather (Gilbert) Calf Robe, Susie Marceau, Rocky Calf Robe Jr, Victor Turnbull, April Tunthakit; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his little Khloe who held a very special place in his heart, and his loyal dog Biscuit Calf Robe.

A wake service will be at White Swan Community Center from 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 to 9:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. in White Swan, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. After the service all are welcome to join the family at the VFW in Yakima (118 S. 5th Ave.) for a potluck reception.
