Terry Colleen (Hall) Welch went home to heaven on August 8, 2021, her 51st wedding anniversary, surrounded by her family and friends. Terry was born in Spokane, WA on November 2, 1950 to Don and Lorraine Hall. She attended school in Spokane and graduated from John Rogers High School in 1969. Terry married her high school sweetheart, Rick Welch on August 8, 1970 in Lawton, OK during Rick’s service in the Army.
Terry’s greatest ambition was to be a good wife and mother and she fulfilled that calling with love and wisdom. She raised three children and supported Rick as they moved 25 times over the years. Terry added the role of pastor’s wife for 19 years at Community Alliance Church in Yakima where she served with grace. For 16 years, Terry worked at Yakima Memorial Hospital in Patient Registration, also worked at Telewaves and as church secretary for both Yakima Alliance Church and Community Alliance Church.
Terry was a devoted follower of Christ, a faithful woman of prayer and a good friend to many. She knew how to make people feel loved wherever she went from the grocery store to her work at the hospital to the doors of the church. When asked about what hobbies she had, her only reply was “People”. Terry shared the love of Christ that flowed out of her heart and into the lives of others. Her home was often the place for people to gather to study the Bible, fellowship, and pray.
Terry was preceded in death by her dear Rick on March 20, 2012, her parents, brother Robert Bennett and sister Bobbi Bennett of Walla Walla.
Terry is survived by a daughter, Danya Hanks and her husband, Chris of Randle, WA and two sons, David Welch and his wife, Teena of Kirkland, WA and Peter Welch and his wife, Marie of Yakima, WA. She is also survived by her sister, Sue Day and her husband, Larry of Yakima, six grandchildren, Nate, Megan, Benjamin, Emma, Tyler and Brooklynn, her nieces, Andrea and Heather, numerous great nieces and nephews and her little dog, Molly.
The family is grateful for the assistance and friendship of Memorial’s Hospice Home Care and all the other people who walked closely with Terry during her illness.
