Sheryl A. Guthrie

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, and grandmother. Sheryl Ann Guthrie of Yakima, WA., went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2023 at the age of 70. She was born on August 26, 1953, in Racine WI., to Theron and LaVon LaRue.

At a young age, Sheryl and her family moved from Racine to Union Gap and shortly after to Yakima. She attended McKinley Elementary, Franklin Junior High, and graduated from Davis High School. She later attended Yakima Valley Community College where she obtained her AA degree. As a teen she had a passion for pitching and played on multiple fast-pitch teams. She was coached by her dad Theron for many of those years.

She married Ivan, the love of her life, on September 26, 1975. This year they would have celebrated their 48th Anniversary. They had two daughters together, Shannon and Melissa. While raising her family she enjoyed jeeping, snowmobiling, camping, Christmas cookie day, baking, and charter boat fishing. She worked for the local telephone company for 19 years before retiring. After her husband retired, they enjoyed farming, gardening, cruising, and fishing. She loved decorating her mountain cabin for Christmas and watching it snow. She loved her family, including daily outings with her husband, girl talk and shopping trips with her daughters, and visits from her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ivan Guthrie, stepson, Joseph Guthrie, daughters, Shannon Guthrie (Robert Olmeda), Melissa Sixberry (Benjamin), grandchildren, Joshua, Mallorie and Jayce Sixberry, Matthew Guthrie, and Brandon Olmeda, all of Yakima, WA. She is also survived by her brother, Gary LaRue (Gloria) of Kent, WA., brother-in-law, Sam Ramirez, sisters, Linda Gott (Alan), Dawn Rodrigues, Gale Avila (Dave) all of Yakima, WA. and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Theron and LaVon LaRue, sister, Carol Ramirez, and niece, Serena Plant.

A visitation for Sheryl will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA. A Funeral service will occur Friday, September 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
