In the early morning on Sunday December 11, 2022, this angelic woman gained her wings. Sheila Rae (Pauley) Adolf, 77, of Yakima, passed away after a hard battle from Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's.
Sheila was born July 23, 1945 in Wapato, WA to Frederick and Rebecca (Rutz) Pauley. The oldest of 5 children, she helped raise her younger siblings Becky, Nueslle (Butch), Berwyn, and Chuck from a very young age.
While attending Wapato High school, she fell in love with her soulmate, Dany Adolf. Shortly after graduating from Wa-Hi, Sheila and Dany were married on November 2, 1963. Making their home in Wapato, they raised 3 children, Scott, Alan and Diane. Sheila was lucky enough to be a homemaker and stay at home mom.
As the children grew, she decided to enter the workforce and was fortunate enough to get on as a Para-Professional with the Wapato Primary School. After a few years, she began her career with the Special Education program working with children in both the Primary and Intermediate grades. She was admired by her peers and loved by her students. Former students would always come up to her years later and thank her for being their wonderful teacher and molding them into the person they are today. This continued well after her retirement of 36 years in 2010.
Sheila loved to travel with Dany. They made numerous road trips to California, Colorado and all states in between. They also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. Over the years, they made it a point to take each of their grandchildren to Disneyland when they were young, just as they had done with their three children as they were growing up. When both Dany and Sheila retired, they took a five week road trip back east. New England in the fall was one of Mom's bucket list must do's. They made it a point to hit every state in the nation that they had not been to before.
Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rebecca Pauley, older brother Aubrey who passed at birth, sister Becky Sue Dixon, sister Berwyn Teague, brother Charles (Chuck)Pauley and brother Nueslle (Butch) Pauley.
She is survived by the love of her life and Husband of 59 years Dany Adolf, son Scott (Theresa) Adolf of Wenatchee, son Alan (Vernita) Adolf of Yakima and daughter Diane (Kevin) Sybouts of Yakima; 12 grandchildren: Christopher (Natalie) Adolf, Phillip (Ezzy) Adolf, Daniel (Marti) Adolf, Andrew (Jennifer) Shields, Jordan (Savannah) Shields, Amber (Craig) Frazier, Amanda (Adrian) Brown, Aymee Baron, Cortney (Brendon) Sybouts, Sydney (Rob) Sybouts, Dillian (Nanette) Sybouts, Dustin (Grecia) Sybouts; 22 great grandchildren with another on the way; and 1 great great grandchild.
