She was born on March 2, 1937 in Osawatomie, Kansas to Walter and Glenna Burhman as the fourth of seven children. She left Osawatomie at age twelve and lived in Selah, Washington and surrounding towns where she met her husband, Jewell, and had their four children. They returned to Paola, Kansas in 1968. Here they raised the children and Ruth worked in a clothing factory, sewing and later as a supervisor. She then worked at King Radio for twenty years in Production Control. After retiring, Ruth moved back to Yakima, Washington. She was an accomplished quilter and seamstress as well as an avid reader.
She is survived by three children, Dennis Dozier of Yakima, Janet MacKinnon of Olathe, Kansas and Jewell Dozier of Yakima. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell D Dozier and son, Rodney Dozier. She had seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ruth will be laid to rest beside her husband Jewell in Osawatomie Cemetery, W 327th St, Osawatomie, KS 66071. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on April 14th.
