Ruby was born March 3, 1917 to George W. and Martha Myrtle (Borgen) Downing and raised on a farm near Woodston, Kansas. She was a secretary and homemaker.
On June 5, 1938, Ruby married her high school sweetheart, Clinton W. Meyer. They lived in Kansas, Nebraska, New York, and Illinois before moving to Yakima in 1972. During their 12 years in Washington State, they truly enjoyed the agricultural bounty and beauty of the Yakima Valley. They spent many happy days fishing, exploring and traveling with friends throughout the Northwest. Each winter, Ruby and Clint journeyed to Arizona where they reunited with friends and relatives....rock hounding, fishing, playing bridge, and exploring new hobbies.
Ruby will be remembered for many things...her wisdom, kindness, generosity, faith, and her great sense of humor...oh, how she loved to laugh! We will miss her so very much.
She is survived by her son, Roger (Debbie) and four grandchildren, Michael (Cathy) Ingraham of Seattle; Kirsten (Jon) Greninger of Everett; Katie (Joshua) Davidson of Yakima; and David (Sarah) Meyer of Boise. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Quinn and Hannah Greninger of Everett; Sida, Tate, Audrey, Ashleigh, and Johnny Ingraham of Seattle; and Emma Davidson of Yakima. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Leon Hall of Ohio, Martha Green, Michael Downing, and Cheryl Downing of Colorado, Lynne Egan and Sondra Raile of Kansas.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Clinton, daughter Connie (Norman) Ingraham, brothers E.L. Downing and Gerald Downing, and sister Velma Hall.
Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Living Care Retirement Community for their generous and loving support. We would also like to thank the many wonderful friends from Westminster Presbyterian Church who visited Ruby so faithfully throughout the years.
