Rosie had a wonderful and full life. She was born on July 11, 1928, in South Dakota to William and Mildred Faucett. On her thirteenth birthday, her family moved to Washington and settled in Edmonds. She married the love of her life, James Mudra, and raised three beautiful daughters. Rosie had her own daycare for 33 years and lovingly cared for over 500 children. She called her little ones her “chickadees,” and was affectionately known as Baba and Grahms. She was especially proud of obtaining her GED while running her daycare.
In 1996, she retired and enjoyed spending time with her family. Rosie loved hiking, camping at the Sol Duc River, gardening, cooking, sewing, reading, jogging, and square dancing. Rosie lived a life based on her strong faith in God and her family was her entire world. She faithfully told them she loved them and prayed for them. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, a quiet strength, and an unending generosity. She was big-hearted and blessed everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a beautiful big smile.
She had an amazing memory and told lots of stories about growing up on the farm in South Dakota and the trip out to Washington. She will be remembered for her wonderful birthday and holiday gatherings, and mouthwatering meals. Everyone loved her turkey dinners and cranberry Jello salad.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, her five siblings, Luella, Leila, Delbert, Adrian, and Robert, and her daughter, Marcia.
Rosie’s animal companions were also dear to her. Betsy, Mosey, Bambi, Big Girl and Twilight are on a long walk with her now.
Rosie is survived by her children, Suzanne and Mary (son-in-law Robert), her son-in-law Paul, her grandchildren, Tamara, Paul (Tiffany), and Kristina (Mark), and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service at Floral Hills Cemetery and a celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in her memory to Seattle Children’s Hospital, where she donated handmade fleece blankets for children.
