Ron was born on September 30, 1946 in Marshall, Arkansas to Ed & Abby Hursh. He was the youngest of seven children; his family moved west during his early childhood to settle in Outlook, Washington. After graduation from Sunnyside High School, he moved to Seattle to work at Boeing, where he met and married, Susan Brereton who gave him two children, Rhoan and Amalea. Later he worked as a store manager, retiring after 25 years from Payless Drug Store.
Ron enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with life-long friends, George Zittle & Duane Allen. Ron married Bonnie Evans and spent 29 years together. Ron was blessed to be a grandpa and was given the name “Papa” which he loved. He is survived by his son Rhoan, wife Kristie, granddaughter Emalea, and grandson Max as well as his daughter Amalea, husband Chad, granddaughter Hannah, husband Josh, and great granddaughter Amalea Marie and big brother Christopher, granddaughter Haydyn, son-in-law Al Wagner. Ron is survived by his wife, Bonnie, who would like to thank Dr. Sloop and the many doctors who helped with Ron’s care dealing with parkinson’s. Ron loved the Lord and is at rest in our Savior’s arms. Life will not be the same without him. He was Bonnie’s gentle giant.
A visitation for Ronald will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr, Yakima, WA 98901, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
