Ron was born in Yakima, Washington on December 29, 1940 to Russell Kenneth and Helen Fay (Davis) Hafsos and attended West Valley High School. Ron worked for Sunfair Chevrolet in the parts department for several years. Ron’s career with the Yakima County Department of Corrections was from 1984 until his retirement in 2003.
Ron was an avid camper and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Vintiques Car Club for many years as well as the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter M. He was also very influential in the annual Hobo feed at Longmire Meadows sponsored by the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club.
Most important in his life was Ron’s family. He never missed a family dinner, holiday gathering or reunion. His children and grandchildren meant everything to Ron. Being active in the car and motorcycle hobby, Ron appreciated the many valley friends he had met over the years.
Coming from a large family Ron’s social time revolved around his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He loved square-dancing, bowling, camping and of course his favorite large family meals.
Ron is survived by his son, David Hafsos (Annette Hahn) of Naches, his daughter, Marla Damewood (Terry Hirst) of Moses Lake, WA; his brothers and sisters, Nancy Service of Penticton, Canada, Janet Hafsos of Spokane Valley, WA, Melvin Hafsos (Errol Carlson) of Portland, OR, Karen Poyser (Rick) of Yakima, Diane Dufault (Doug) of Beaverton, OR and Doug Hafsos of Yakima.; his grandchildren, Kory Damewood, Kyler Damewood, Dustin Hafsos, Dakota Hahn, Lacey Hafsos and Cristal Hafsos. Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Roberts Hafsos, his parents, Russell and Helen Hafsos and his brother, Gerald Hafsos.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
