Robert "Bob" Torson passed away peacefully on May 2, 2023 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Born September 19, 1941 in Pawnee, Nebraska to Leland and Marie Torson, Bob graduated from West Valley High School. After graduating, Bob joined the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in San Francisco at which time he met his first wife. They raised 3 children together. In the mid 1960's they moved to Yakima where Bob attended Business College and earned his certificate in bookkeeping. His first job out of college was at Husch & Husch Agriculture Company in the lower valley. He stayed there for many years. After retiring from there he then worked at Penguin Plumbing and Electric for approximately 15 years as a bookkeeper and sales person. This is where he met and married his current wife,Vickie.
Bob enjoyed many outdoor hobbies including camping, motorcycle riding, snow skiing, water skiing and especially taking his son Lee to his BMX bicycle racing events. After Bob met and married Vickie, they enjoyed camping, traveling and cruises. They especially enjoyed a cruise to Alaska where they would sit together and watch the seals, whales and big, beautiful glaciers.
Bob will be greatly missed by many people. He is preceded in death by his step son Tony and step daughter Nita. He is survived by his wife Vickie, sister Delores (Ron) Cooper of Idaho, nieces Debbie (Ed) Hemp and Chris, both of Seattle, son Lee (Cherie), step son Jonathan, grandchildren Brandon (Jamie) Torson of Wenatchee, Nicole (Anthony) and Alex Torson both of Yakima, as well as two great grandchildren, Emmett and Georgia Torson of Wenatchee. And of course his loving dog, Baby.
