Robert D. (Bob) Soules, passed peacefully at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital on January 5, 2023. He was born to Chuck and Mary (Volkov) Soules on January 9th, 1956 in Yakima, where he lived all of his life.
Bob attended Yakima schools, including Davis High School, graduating in 1974.
As a youth, he was part of the Cub Scouts and also played Grid Kids Football where he made it to the All Star Season Game. A serious injury prevented him from continuing on in football.
Bob shared his brother’s love for fixing up old cars. At 16 years old, he and his brother, Gene, began building a 1933 Ford Coupe, finishing it three years later which Bob owned for many years.
He was a long-time member of the Vintiques Car Club, being part of the original charter members formation.
Bob attended Perry Trade School for Auto Body Repair because of his passion for cars. He began employment at S&S Auto Body where he remained for over 20 years.
He later started his own business in Paintless Dent Removal, which he took great pride in. He made valuable friendships with his customers that he maintained even after retiring in 2018.
Bob married the love of his life, Nancy, on August 18, 1984 at First Presbyterian Church (now Grace of Christ).
He had empathy for the underprivileged and was involved in outreach programs for boys through First Presbyterian Church.
He was athletic and enjoyed playing Frisbee, volleyball, tennis, ping pong and going to the gym. He loved to play all kinds of sports and games with his kids and grandkids.
Bob had a great love for the Lord Jesus and would share with others that love and about his conversion experience that transformed his life.
He attended Grace of Christ and West Side Church in Yakima. He was a member of small groups at both churches over the years and made lifelong friends in them.
He was a life-long learner and would read books and attend seminars for personal development. He also helped others to connect to their own greatness and purpose.
He had a good sense of humor and love of life. He was grateful for the little things. He cared about people and was always ready to help anyone in need.
Although Bob had many hobbies that he loved, he cared deeply about his family. His wife, kids and grandkids meant everything to him. Bob loved to serve people and especially loved to cook food for family and friends.
Bob was diagnosed with advanced Stage 4 cancer in 2006. He faced every step of his treatment and recovery with a positive outlook and faith that God would be with him and heal him. He maintained that same attitude and good humor with his more recent journey dealing with the effects of the treatment.
The family wishes to thank all of the incredible healthcare workers who tended to his care over the years. He and his wife, Nancy, made friendships with many of them.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 3 brothers; Michael, George and Ken, a sister Frances, and his grandson, Seraphim Lane.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters Justina (Kevin) Lane of Richland and Lindsay Soules of Yakima. Grandchildren include Ariadne, Fevronia and Anatoly Lane of Richland.
