Grandma Mona loved to watch Novelas, she truly enjoyed watching La Duena “The Boss”. She loved to be pampered, especially getting her hair permed, colored also manicures and pedicures by Laurie. She lived for her children and grandchildren. Although she loved to shop, what she enjoyed most was making a pot of homemade Menudo for her sons, Joe and Ray. She also loved going to eat lunch with Nini & Mito at her favorite restaurant Mel’s Diner. She always looked forward to answering the phone and hearing the voice of her daughter Sylvia or grandson Jake, just checking in or saying hello and asking how she was doing. That often made her day and always put a smile on her face.
In her earlier years grandma loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed canning homemade salsas, as well as fruit and vegetables. So when the family came to visit, she could send something home with them. She also loved to teach the family how to make our favorite foods including her favorite homemade tortillas. Although we could never get it exactly right, she never criticized. Grandma always had a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life. She was an easy person to talk with about anything and was always there to listen.
We are all going to miss eating her delicious home cooked meals, seeing her beautiful smile, hearing her fun little laugh and smelling her sweet perfumes.
