Paul L. Weigand, 70, passed away August 25th, after fighting a long, courageous battle with cancer with bravery and positivity. He was born in Yakima, and raised in Toppenish until he returned to Yakima and attended and graduated from Eisenhower High School.
He began his electrical career by attending Perry Technical Institute in Yakima before joining the United States Air Force. He then met Janice, the love of his life, on a blind date. They were married in 1968 and began their journey raising their two children – a daughter, Melissa (Missy) Thompson, and a son, Desmond (Dez) Weigand. Paul loved his family with all of his heart, and they always came first. He loved working on old cars and trucks. Some of Paul’s hobbies included trap shooting with his Dad and his son Dez, and woodworking with his grandsons, Zhane and Riley.
Paul is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janice Weigand, daughter Melissa Thompson (Shane) and their son Riley and Desmond Weigand (Michele) and their son Daniel. He is also survived by two sisters, Linda Hansen and Marsha Gove. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Kathleen Weigand and his Grandson, Zhane Paul Thompson.
The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Dr. Albert Brady and his caring staff and to the Cottage in the Meadow for their graciousness.
