Pat was born in Yakima on January 13, 1947 to Larry and Dorothy Hannon. He grew up in West Valley and for all but two years he lived in one of three houses on the same 30 acres. As a youngster and teen he worked on the family fruit ranch. After graduating from West Valley in 1965 he attended Central Washington University and YVCC. He enlisted in the National Guard and served for 9 years. For most of his life Pat worked in the fruit industry working as a Washington State fruit inspector, as a buyer for Topco & Associates and as a truck broker for Bramel Truck Brokerage. Finally, in 1985 he took over the family fruit ranch. Farming was his true love.
Pat and Sharon Wuitschick were married in 1967 and just celebrated their 48th anniversary this past November. They had two daughters Jennifer and Denise. The girls grew up at baseball parks watching their dad play ball. He loved the game and played as long as his body would allow. For several years he helped coach the girls fast pitch softball teams. Many hours were spent practicing in the yard, until one would come in crying and it was never Pat. Papa loved sports and thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s games.
Pat was a man with a phenomenal memory. It seemed there was nothing you could ask he didn’t know something about. He was full of stories, remembering events and people from years ago. He had many varied interests and loved collecting. He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman and only gave those up when a shoulder surgery no longer allowed it. Pat loved his dogs and always had one by his side.
Pat had many lifelong friends and will be sorely missed.
Pat is survived by his wife Sharon Hannon and their daughters Jennifer Hannon-Renteria (Sergio) and Denise Hannon; six grandchildren Denise, Sara, Spencer, Jonny, Victor and Anthony; 5 great grandchildren; his sister Jeannie Hannon; Sadie his beloved Airedale and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank both the staff at North Star and Memorial’s Palliative and Hospice Services for their compassionate and excellent care of Pat as well as the staff at Cottage in the Meadow for their excellent care while he was there and for making his wish to come home possible.
