Patricia Ann Benson , 80 a longtime Yakima resident, passed away Saturday evening August 13, 2011 at Izzy’s Adult Home. Patricia (Pat) was born September 9, 1930 in Lewiston, Fergus, Montana, to William James Lake and Gladys (Counts) Lake.
Patricia was a Bookkeeper for the family orchard business that she and her husband Evert owned in Cowiche, WA. Pat liked to crochet, knit & quilt. Later in life she took up beading and made beautiful necklaces and earrings. She also loved to make breads and was known to collect a variety of cookbooks – mostly on bread making.
Pat and her late husband liked to travel to Canada, Florida, California and the Oregon Coast either by train or tour bus. She loved every minute of her travels with Evert. Pat had a special friend in her later life - her cat “Tiger”. Tiger was a constant companion and the love of Pat’s life. When you went to visit, she would say “you know what Tiger did today” and the stories would begin. When going out for a ride with a special friend, she would never pass up the opportunity to stop and have a dish of strawberry ice cream - she would say “it’s good to the last drop”.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Evert Benson the love of her life; parents, William and Gladys (Counts) Lake, and a brother, Robert Lake.
A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 22, 2011 at West Hills Memorial Park.
Thanks to Izzy’s Adult Home for all their great care and concern.
Memorials may be made in Patricia’s name to the Yakima Humane Society in care of Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, 1010 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA 98902
