Norma June Hicks

She was born in Sebastopol, CA on August 14, 1932, daughter of the late Byron B. & Ora G. Cox. Norma graduated from Strathmore High of Tulare County, then joined the United States Air Force. She married Charles Hicks in 1951. They lived together in CA from 1954 - 1993 before relocating to their ranch in Yakima, WA. They then proceeded to travel in their RV to 48 states plus Alaska, Canada, & Mexico, & also Hawaii by air.

Norma was a California Native Daughter, insurance agent, real estate agent, business owner & mother of 4. She loved to play the piano, ukulele, & banjo; decorate cakes, bake, garden, do her own home canning, sewing, arts, crafts & babysit her grandchildren.

Norma was preceded in death by her oldest son Charles B. Hicks of Yakima, WA. She is survived by her husband Charles Hicks of Napa, CA, her son Dennis C. Hicks of San Jose, CA, daughter Rebecca R. L. Long of Napa, CA, son Greg D. Hicks of Yakima, WA, siblings: Ruth M. Evans, Sandra D. Rosling, and Byron D. Cox all of Yakima, WA, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild on the way.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA 98902.
