YAKIMA - Mildred Barbara (Vogel) Hansen, 89, lived in Yakima, Washington and passed away January 24, 2014. Born in Wayne, Nebraska in a farmhouse on September 19, 1924, her parents were Fred Vogel and Frances (Weber) Vogel. Mildred graduated from Doland High School in 1942. On April 12, 1948 she married Lyle W. Hansen in Clark, South Dakota. They moved from Redfield, South Dakota to southern California in 1957, then to Yakima, Washington in 1961. Mildred was a housewife and part-time waitress. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, baking, dancing, and loved watching her grandchildren & great grandchildren at sporting events.
Mildred is preceded in death by her father and mother, three brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, a sister, Dorothy Fontaine, and four children: William (Bill) Hansen, Roger Hansen (Dottie), Jim Hansen (Debbie) & Peggy Hansen Cornish (Steve); her seven grandchildren: Jeanette Selberg (Dave), Karyn Gonzales (David), Joel Hansen (Janessa), Sam Hansen (Jessica), Molly Hansen (Dan), Kevin Hansen, and Aimee Hansen; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Evening Rosary Services will be Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, 1010 W. Yakima Avenue, Yakima, WA. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 30th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 12th and Chestnut, Yakima, WA. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at St. Paul’s grade school, 3rd floor.
