Meda was born July 11, 1923 in Longrun, Missouri to William McKinley and Nora Jane (Hampton) Simpson. She was 1 of 12 children. She attended the Longrun Community School in the Ozarks. She loved all her family very much and helped at a real early age on the Simpson family farm with chores and in working the large vegetable garden.
On March 18, 1941 she married the love of her life Sterlin E. Marsh in Gainesville, Missouri. On March 31, 1942 they became parents of their one and only daughter Patsy Marie Marsh. She was the apple of her Mom & Dad’s eyes.
In 1941 she moved with her husband & daughter to Seattle, WA to work in the ship yards as an assistant welder to Sterlin Marsh her husband.
She also worked at Del Monte Cannery in Yakima, WA for several years then joined her husband in his calling to the ministry as a pastor of Mead Ave. Gospel Tabernacle. They pastored churches in the state of Oregon, Alabama & Mississippi.
Her hobbies were crocheting, cooking, knitting, quilting quilts with her sister. Meda was excellent cook and homemaker loved by everyone who came in contact with her. Her home was a very beautiful peaceful place. Great food, beautiful lawn with lovely flowers and a patio deck with a lot of chairs for all the family to come and enjoy visiting with her. (That’s where we all ate watermelon.)
Meda was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 5 sisters and grandson David Shelton Brock.
She is survived by her daughter, Patsy M. Brock and husband Steve Brock; grandson Tony Brock his wife Gwen; three great grandchildren Victoria, Connor and Kendel all of Atlanta, Ga. Also a spiritual adopted grandson Chris Singleton and wife Shunda and their children Sydney, Savannah and Samuel of Atlanta, Ga; three sisters, Hildred Allen, Mildred Phillips of Yakima, Wa. Bealuh Schelle and husband Jim of Early, Iowa and along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Meda was greatly loved by all that knew her. She was a strong spiritual leader to family, friends and community.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 6th at Reservation Community Memorial Park (5161 West Wapato Rd.
