MARY CECILIA FORD HYATT MILNOR, 100, of Yakima, WA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, April 4, 2015. She was born September 22, 1914 in Seattle, WA and raised in Bremerton, WA by the late Michael Joseph and Mary Etta Ford. She attended Catholic and public schools, graduating from Bremerton High in 1933. After earning a graduation certificate from Metropolitan Business College in 1934, she went on to the U of W where she lived in Newman Hall. There she met her husband Raymond Eugene Hyatt who preceded her in death in 1969 after 31 years of marriage. The family had moved to Yakima in 1967 and she later married James P. Milnor in 1973. He preceded her in death in 1995 after 22 years of marriage.
Mary loved golfing and bowling and was active in both sports well into her 90’s. She was a very devout Catholic, a member of St Paul’s Catholic Church, YLI and Serra Club.
Mary loved her large and boisterous family. She enjoyed the annual family golf competition and the many card games.
As well as her parents and 2 spouses, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Bert Whalen and her 2 oldest sons, Ford and Michael Hyatt. She is survived by her children: Shirley (Michael) Peringer of Seattle, WA; Cecilia (Gary) Bloxham of Bellevue, WA; Timothy Hyatt of Puyallup, WA; Mark (Anita) Hyatt of Longview, WA; Merle Hyatt of Chehalis, WA; Peter (Barbara) Hyatt of Vancouver, WA; Jeannette (Dave) Lizotte and Valerie (Danny) Day of Yakima, WA; Kimberly (Kenneth) Jackson of Bellevue, WA; 38 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
A special thanks is given to Jeannette for her outstanding care in the last years of Mary’s life. She and the caregivers made it possible for her to remain at home until her death.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2015 at Langevin -- El Paraiso Funeral Home with a vigil starting at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St. Paul Cathedral, with burial following at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Paul’s Cathedral.
