Martin Rennie was born in Yakima, W A to Scottish parents, David & Annie (Donaldson Ross). He married Margaret Guilland in Nov. 1944. They honeymooned at the Hull cabin in Tampico and were chiveried by Uncles Walt Gano and Sid Martin. They then moved to Chicago were Dad finished his Naval training. Mom and Dad raised five children, Martin (Roberta) of East Wenatchee, C.J. (Larry) Tucker of Trout Lodge, John (Brenda) of Yakima, Susan (Dave) Barrett of Naches, and Ann (Bill) Hicks of Yakima.
We want to thank you Dad for raising us on a farm and teaching us how to work hard, take responsibility, be kind, and polite and do the right thing. We really had fun and can look back on some great memories! Sorry about letting the cows out, and feeding them fermented apples. We loved it when you played the old Scottish tunes on your harmonica, with Uncle Dave on the guitar and Grandma singing along so beautifully in her Scottish brogue.
We are proud of your service to our country as a WWII Naval veteran.
We liked hearing about officer's training school in Dickenson, North Dakota. You didn't talk a lot about the war, but you did teach us to love and respect our country, take off our hat and stand for the National Anthem and know and sing the words. Thank you, Dad. You worked hard at the office for Stadelman's Fruit Company for so many years. We were very proud of you.
There were ups and downs in life, as with all of us, but during your sixty-seven years of marriage you and Mom demonstrated love, humor, faithfulness and commitment. The last chapter was the very hardest, Mom. You helped us all with your strength, love, and ever present hope.
Thank you Dr. Nickie Bocek for taking such good care of Dad. He really liked you because you talked right to him and you listened.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents and brother Don Rennie.
He is survived by his loving wife, five children, all the grand's and great¬grand's, brother Dave (Pat) Rennie of Yakima and sister Mary Jane (Dennis) Guettler of Richland.
A graveside service will be held on July 12th at 2:00 at West Hills Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
