On June 14th, 2022 Loraye’s 6 year battle against cancer ended. She fought long and hard with never a complaint and always with a smile that lit up the room. Her courage, tenacity, and positive attitude were something to be admired.
Loraye spent the majority of her life in the Yakima valley and attended the local schools, graduating from A.C. Davis High School and the Yakima Valley Business College.
She worked for many local companies in leadership and human resource positions, Blue Cross, Adaptis, Maytag, and the last twelve years at Triumph Aviation Systems. Loraye was always a positive role model and her number one priority was always her fellow co-workers.
Loraye and her husband Scott Gendron met through the Vintiques car club when he was in high school and she was just entering the Yakima Business College. They were together for 43 years and married for 38 years filled with love and happiness. During that time they raised two sons, Shane and Thomas.
The family shared numerous camping trips to the mountains near rivers and lakes, car shows all over the Pacific Northwest, Las Vegas and her favorite The Rockabilly Riot in Reno. ATV adventures throughout the years were some of the most memorable, Winchester Bay and Coos Bay in the 80’s with Scott and many more trips in the 2000’s with the whole family to ride and hang out on the beach. Her number 1 passion was always her family, deep love of creating memories and being the center of love and affection. Always remember that Kids can do no wrong at grandma’s house.
Loraye was a huge supporter of the local veterans and spent countless hours volunteering and organizing the local veterans “Stand Down”. She spent several years modeling for the Yakima Mall fashion shows and in 1995 was a contestant in the Mrs. Washington Pageant where she was crowned the first runner up.
Her love for the outdoors, animals, and adventure led her to help organize the Cascade Quad Squad where she was officially the treasurer from the club's inception to present. Unofficially Loraye was the leader of the club when it came to organizing and carrying out club activities. She was a damn good ATV rider as well.
Per Loraye’s wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes will be taken to some of her favorite places in the mountains, the beach and at home in a special place with Scott. No formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a local veterans organization, animal shelter, or cancer research.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses that helped us during her long and courageous battle, especially the staff at Northstar.
Loraye is survived by her husband Scott, son Thomas, son Shane and fiance Megan & grandchildren Brantley, Macie, and Jameson, and her father-in-law Jerry.
She will be missed every day. Her light will not be extinguished by her passing. Her lasting memory will be with us always, her love and happiness will continue to inspire everyone in our family for years to come.
