Loralee Sue Rogers (née Madaus), age 74, passed away on March 23, 2025. Born and raised in southeastern Wisconsin, she attended Carthage College in Kenosha, WI and enjoyed many adventures in the outdoors as a young person.
She arrived in Yakima in the late 1970’s to teach physical education and coach womens’ basketball and volleyball at Yakima Valley College. She later opened a sporting goods store, Valley Sport, serving the local community and athletic teams for over 30 years. Additionally, she spent countless hours serving as a founding member and operator of Cascade Volleyball Club and board member of Yakima Youth Soccer Association.
Loralee was a staunchly independent and strong woman, her strength and resilience being evident throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of dedication to family and the athletic communities of Yakima. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Rogers, in June 2016. Loralee is survived by her sister, Karen Landen, and her loving children, Derek Rogers (spouse Laura Boismenue) and Keshia Rogers. She was adored by her six grandchildren: Romeo, Enzo, Eros, Ares, Sonja, and James.
A casual memorial picnic will be held to celebrate Loralee's life on Sunday, April 13 from 3-6pm at West Valley Community Park. Please bring a dish to share at this potluck gathering.
