Linda Beam, Born May 23, 1943 passed away in her home after an extended illness on June 17 2023. Linda was born in Centralia Washington on May 23, 1943 to Richard and Lois Pratt (Henry). Her father a veteran of WWII reenlisted when the Korean war began but was sent to Germany instead with family in tow. Mom would often talk of their life in in Germany and traveling by ship across the Atlantic during a fierce storm. While her mother was in near panic over their impending doom, Mom and her brother Duane sat on pillows and slid side to side across the floor as the ship tossed about.
Linda graduated from Davis high school and married George Beam on February 9, 1963. Finding herself the wife of soldier, she spent the next year in Nebraska. Returning to Yakima in 1964, where they remained until finding a small farm in Selah in 1980, where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Mom loved puzzles, crafts and Perry Mason, she would often talk of clamming season spent at the beach as a young girl. She would later go to the beach whenever she got the chance. If anyone went without her, you were expected to bring her back a jar of Beach. Yard selling was something she always enjoyed and had a special fondness for tacky. She loved sitting on her porch and talking the day away when there was nothing pressing. Mom liked to laugh and on a good day we could really get her rolling.
Mom always had a big heart and was selfless when it came to caring for others. Taking special care of her parents in their old age and her husband when he became disabled. She always had ice-cream in the freezer ready to serve up the grandkids. Candy in her pocket always at the ready.
Proceeding Linda, parents, Richard and Lois Pratt, and great granddaughter Angel.
